IMPORTANT: 1st MEETING – PROPOSED HYATT DEVELOPMENT

The developer for the proposed 23 story Hyatt Place Hotel/Residential building, which would replace the surface parking lot at the corner of NW 12th and Flanders, will have its first meeting with the Design Commission Review Board on October 4, 2018. The developer will not be submitting their design at this meeting. The purpose of this meeting is a “Design Advice Request” where the commission will be giving the developer their design advice.

This proposed development will have a significant impact on residents and retail businesses in the Pearl District, and especially on residents of the McKenzie and the Casey. To show the developer and city officials that we care about how this property is developed, we strongly encourage you to attend the Design Commission Review Meeting, if you are available:

City of Portland Bureau of Development Services

1900 SW 4th Ave.  Portland, OR  97201

2nd Floor, Room 2500B

Thursday, October 4th at 3:15 pm

Please arrive early. We want to be sure that everyone is there early in case the hearing is moved up.

The attorney hired by the “Pearl Neighbors for Integrity in Design Fund” (PNID) will be speaking at this meeting.

If you want to speak at the meeting, PLEASE contact Al Solomon at ars9712@gmail.com.

Speakers should:

  • Be polite and respectful.
  • Organize your points and be brief. YOU ONLY HAVE 3 MINUTES!
  • Don’t repeat points previously made by other speakers.

You don’t have to sign-in if you are not speaking, but we suggest that you do so that the developer and city have a record of the number of individuals attending.

We would appreciate your help in trying to get as many individuals as possible to attend the meeting. People do not have to live in the immediate area to attend, as major developments affect more than just the local neighborhood. Attendees don’t have to say anything – a big audience alone will send a powerful message to the developer that city residents care about and are watching the design process.

Please remember to be polite and respectful!

If you would like more information on the proposed development, please contact Rick Mayo at rick_mayo@comcast.net or me at andrewmoran@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Andrew Moran,

McKenzie Lofts Board Chair
